EETC will issue a tender for Beni Suef 80 MVA Sub-Station

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) will issue an international tender to build a sub-station in Beni Suef (22/66 kV, 80 MVA). The Sub-Station tender will ask for Substation operation within three (3) months of signing the contract, as announced by Al Mal news . EETC is expected to receive the bids from the tenders by the end of December 2018.

IMS is working on securing USD 500 million for solar power plants investment

Intelligent Micro Solutions (IMS) is communicating with several financial institutions and foreign partners to secure USD 500 mn for financing the construction of solar power plants in Egypt. Magdy Saleh, the General Manager, informed Al Shorouk website . The company is planning to build solar plants with capacities between 50 MW and 5 GW.

ACWA Power signs PPA with EETC for C$ 1.88/kwh from Luxor plant

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy (MoERE) has finally signed a Power Purchase Agreement with the Saudi company ACWA Power for USD 0.0188/kwh, as announced by Al Mal. The ministry will cover part of the cost of supplying the plant with natural gas. ACWA Power announced the signature of the PPA last week . The 3 modules Combined Cycle Gas Fired power Plant installed capacity shall be 2300 MW. The Plant is scheduled to be in full operation by 2023. The Capital investment of the plant is USD 2.3 billion.

Egypt-Saudi interconnection is planned to operate by 2020

Eng. Lamia Youssef, the head of Tariff Unit of the Egyptian Electric Utility & Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EGYPTERA), has announced through Al Mal newspaper that the USD 1.6 billion "Egypt-Saudi power grid interconnection" project is planned to be operational in 2020 not 2022 as was announced earlier. The project execution process has been resumed after period of delays. The trial runs are planned in 2019.

EETC awarded a contract to Elsewedy to supply power transformers for EGP 362.4M

Arab Contractors won a tender to build a USD 3.2 bn hydroelectric dam over Tanzania

According to The Egyptian Presidential Spokesman statement , Tanzanian President John Magufuli informed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi through a phone call on Oct. 21st that Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric were selected to construct the dam and the 2.1 GW hydro power plant, which will be financed by the Tanzanian government. The Tanzanian President also invited President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to attend the groundbreaking ceremony. 1,000-2,000 Egyptian laborers are expected to participate in the construction, and construction is expected to start in five months for a duration of 5 years, as stated by El Sewedy Electric CEO Mr. Ahmed Elsewedy .

Infinity Solar is planning to build 400 MW IPP Wind and Solar plants in Egypt

INFINITY SOLAR announced at almalnews that the company is planning to invest USD 400 mn in solar and wind power projects through 20201. The plants shall be located in Cairo, the Red Sea, and Aswan. The company aims to them under an IPP (independent power producer) framework. Three solar power facilities with a combined capacity of 130 MW are under development. The first is part of the Benban solar complex. INFINITY was earlier this year announced that it was the first developer to operate its solar plant at Benban. Five companies are qualified to bid for EUR 50 mn Zaafarana solar plant

Out of 18 companies submitted their interest to bid for Zaafarana 50 MW solar plant, only five were found qualified to submit financial offers after being evaluated by New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) and its consultant DNVGL for the KFW financed EUR 50 mn project, announced according to sources from NREA on Monday 16 October 2018. The qualified companies are Elecnor (Spain), B Electric (Germany), TCK Solar (Australia), Vikram Solar (India) and NARI Group (China). The commercial offers are expected before the end of 2018.

Italy's ENI is investing USD 300M in building 300 MW Solar power generating plant in Egypt

According to Alborsanews , MoERE sources indicated that ENI has requested a license from state utilities regulator EGYPTERA to operate a 50 MW solar plant as an IPP (independent power producer). ENI is planning to add 250 MW to this 50MW to reach a combined capacity of under a build-own-operate framework.
